Frequently asked questions
- Is my camera feed or image uploaded anywhere?
- No. Scanning happens in your browser, on your own device. The camera feed and the images you choose are not sent to our servers.
- Why does the camera not start?
- Your browser needs your permission to use the camera, and the page has to be opened over https. Check the camera icon in the address bar, allow access and try again. You can always use the Upload image tab instead.
- Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot or photo?
- Yes. Open the Upload image tab, drag a picture in, choose a file, or paste an image with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
- What does the safety check do?
- It looks at the link itself for common warning signs such as unencrypted http, raw IP addresses, look-alike characters and shortened links that hide the destination. It is a basic check, not a guarantee, so stay careful with links from unknown sources.
